Cisco Prime Infrastructure Input Validation Flaw in Web Framework Lets Remote Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting Attacks
Severity Rating: High
Systems Affected:
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure
A vulnerability has been identified in Cisco Prime Infrastructure and can be exploited by remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting attacks. The vulnerability exists because the web framework code does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. This vulnerability can allow a remote attacker to create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Cisco Prime Infrastructure software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user’s cookies associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
Users are advised to apply updates.
