Fortinet FortiOS Input Validation Flaw in ‘global-label’ Configuration Setting Lets Remote Authenticated Administrative Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting Attacks
Severity Rating: Medium
- Fortinet FortiOS versions 5.2.0 - 5.2.10
A vulnerability has been identified in Fortinet FortiOS and can be exploited by remote attackers to conduct cross-site attacks. The vulnerability exists because the interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before the input is displayed. This vulnerability can allow a remote authenticated administrative user with write privileges to cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the Fortinet FortiGate/FortiOS interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user’s cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
Users are advised to update apply updates.
