National Sensitisation Campaign on Internet Safety
The Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius (CERT-MU), a department under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation celebrated the Safer Internet Day on Monday 17 February 2025 at the Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebène. As part of this event, the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Honourable Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about online safety of children. This event marked the start of an awareness campaign about digital risks and provide young people with tools to protect themselves online from March to October 2025.
On this occasion, an educational clip titled “The Safer Internet” and the improved version of the Mauritius Cybercrime Online Reporting System (MAUCORS+) were also launched. Some 100 guests from different Ministries and departments, primary and secondary schools and NGOs attended the event. Furthermore, as a post SID activity, CERT-MU is collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource and Ministry of Gender and Family Welfare to conduct awareness sessions for students of primary and secondary schools, housewives and senior citizens across different schools, women centres and elderly day care centres of the country.
