Cyber Disaster Response: Development of Simulation Exercises
The Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius (CERT-MU), a department under the aegis of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) conducted a 4.5 days training on “Cyber Disaster Response: Development of Simulation Exercises” from 5 – 9 May 2025. The aim of the training was to strengthen the cyber resilience and improve the disaster response capabilities of the participating countries. The event was held at the Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebène and Dr. the Hon. Avinash Ramtohul, Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation officially opened the training session in the presence of the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Mauritius and Seychelles, Mr. Oskar Benedikt and the Project Officer of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mr Ghazi Mabrouk. Some 100 guests were present during the opening ceremony on the 5th May 2025. 16 participants from 13 different countries namely BOTSWANA, ESWATINI, GABON, NAMIBIA, UGANDA, ZAMBIA, ETHIOPIA, GHANA, INDIA, MOZAMBIQUE, NIGERIA, SUDAN and DJIBOUTI and 7 local participants attended the training programme which was conducted by the staffs of the CERT-MU.
