Workshop on International law in cyberspace
The Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation (MITCI) and the Computer Emergency Response Team of Mauritius (CERT-MU), in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), organized a 2.5-day workshop from 15 to 17 October 2025 at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Mauritius. The workshop aimed to support the development of a national position on how international law applies in cyberspace.
The event focused on sharing good practices, addressing key challenges, and enhancing understanding of international legal principles. It brought together some 30 participants from multi-stakeholders, including lawyers, policymakers, and cybersecurity practitioners, for in-depth discussions.
CERT-MU, with guidance from UNIDIR and inputs from stakeholders, will now embark on drafting the national position document.
This initiative strengthens Mauritius’ capacity to safeguard its national interests, promotes a secure and stable digital environment, and reaffirms the country’s commitment to international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.
